FAQ

Common questions

What most people ask before a first visit.

01What happens at my first visit?

The first visit takes about an hour. You talk with your doctor about your history, have an exam that includes how you stand and walk, and hear what was found and what your options are. X-rays are taken only when your doctor decides they are medically necessary. Care starts that day only if you agree to it.

02Is chiropractic care safe?

Like any health care, it has risks. Soreness or stiffness for a day or two is the most common. Rare but serious problems, including stroke, have been reported after neck manipulation. Your doctor explains the risks of each option before care begins, tells you if a physician should see you first, and you can say no at any time.

03Will it hurt?

Many people feel little during an adjustment, and some are sore afterward. Tell your doctor at any point and the care changes or stops. Lower-force and instrument options are available.

04How many visits will I need?

Your doctor sets a plan after the exam and re-checks it as you go. We don't promise a number of visits, and the plan changes if you do.

05Do you take my insurance?

We bill most PPO plans and some employer plans, and our front desk checks your benefits before your first visit. What a plan pays differs from plan to plan. The How fees work page has the details.

06What if I don't use insurance?

You have the right to a Good Faith Estimate if you are not using insurance. We give you a written estimate in advance, before your first visit, and answer your questions about it.

07Do I need X-rays?

Only when your doctor decides they are medically necessary. Many visits have none. If your doctor recommends one, you hear why before it is taken.

08What is spinal decompression, and who is it not for?

Decompression is time on a motorized table that gently stretches the spine under your doctor's direction. It is not for everyone, including some people who are pregnant or who have certain conditions or implants, and your doctor decides after the exam. We do not promise any result.

09What if I am seeing another provider?

Tell us. With your permission we share what we find with your physician or physical therapist, and we won't ask you to stop other care.

10What is the cancellation policy?

To cancel or change a visit, call us as early as you can. Ask the front desk about the practice's cancellation policy.

Still have a question?

Tell us how and when to reach you and the front desk will call.
